Charlotte City Councilmen Republican Oddball Jeffrey A. Christensen’s Accusation of Lying

Recently, there has been quite the kerfuffle in Charlotte, Michigan regarding a sales festival in Charlotte called “A Festival of Oddities.” Calling this sales lalapalooza a “Festival of Oddities,” is a verisimilitude covering the fact that it was really a “Festival of Witchcraft.” Advertising it as “all things macabre” is a cover for “all things demonic.”

Of course the City Council had to get involved and that involvement included one Jefferey A. Christensen slinging around accusations of lying,

“I will also state for the record that at our last meeting, the owner of Pottervilla stated that he spent no money or had anything to do with these protesters coming from out of town. He also stated he did not pay to have them come. If there’s one thing anyone should know about me if you already don’t is that you will always get the benefit of the doubt from me until you lie to me. Once I’ve been lied to by someone, that trust is permanently broken and I will always question that person‘s motive or whatever it may be from that point forward. When I seen the video of a house in town that is owned by that same person and I watched all of these protesters and their signs and everything walking out of the house because that’s where they stayed for the weekend, I of course knew that I had been lied to.”

I don’t know who this man is. I don’t know why he wants all things demonic to be flaunting itself in Charlotte. I do know he is another prime example of what it now means to be a Republican. I also know that he, as he admits in the post that this quoted segment comes from, is “not the brightest bulb in the string or the smartest guy in the room.” The man I do know rather well is the man that Christensen is accusing of being a liar. I have known Mr. Jonathan Potter for nearly all of his life and knowing his sterling character I take as a personal insult to myself that this yahoo Christensen would accuse Jonathan of lying.

Christensen claims he saw a video,

“of a house in town that is owned by that same person and I watched all of these protesters and their signs and everything walking out of the house because that’s where they stayed for the weekend, I of course knew that I had been lied to.”

The fact that Potter owns the house in question and the fact that the protesters stayed at the house for the weekend does not prove what Christensen says it proves. That the protesters stayed at a house owned by Potter does not prove that Mr. Potter spent any money for the protesters to come to Charlotte, nor does it prove that he paid them to come to Charlotte. All it proves is that once these protesters showed up they used a house owned by Potter as a place to stay. Finally, as the quote below from Potter as quoted by WLNS demonstrates, Mr. Potter never said that he never “had anything to do with these protesters coming from out of town.”

Here is precisely what Mr. Potter said,

“I am not a white supremacist, I believe that God created all people equal. I think there’s a lot of things that I would really appreciate if you find the truth on. The Oddities Festival is a specific religious conviction for me, and so my intent is simply to just state my beliefs… It’s not a stance I take on behalf of the company at all,” he (Jonathan Potter) said. “I did not hire terrorists to come to Charlotte. I did not pay anybody to come. There’s a long history here going back over three years.”

The long and the short of it is that despite Mr. Christensen’s claim, Mr. Potter did not lie to Mr. Christensen. So, either Mr. Christensen is a liar or he is severely mistaken about what was and was not said by Mr. Potter.

Mr. Christensen, being your typical Republican, seems to be more concerned about financial benefit than he does about bringing witchcraft into Charlotte so as to publicly push a festival of what is now normal.

Wouldn’t it be odd for Mr. Christensen to apologize to Mr. Potter for saying that Mr. Potter lied?

  1. It would be odd for Mr. C. to apologize because I don’t think he cares about the truth as much as he says he cares about it. Either that, or he has a blind spot to a lack of reading comprehension or perhaps to an uncharitable disposition.
Democrats have no truth and act consistent with their nature but these “upright Republican conservatives” blowhard performance artists know the truth but sell it out routinely for their pieces of silver and disgust me more than the honest enemy.

And who and why was their video of the house?

    1. Depends what one means by that statement.

God did create all men equal in the sense that all men are fallen and in the sense that all men are under God’s law.

God did not create all men equal if one fills that meaning with “God created all men the same.”

I believe that the Declaration of Independence used that term “All men are created equal,” in the sense of “All Englishmen are created equal.” Clearly the drafters of the DOI did not think the Indian was created equal since later in the DOI they refer to the Indian as savages.

All men are ontologically fallen and so in need of God’s grace. All men are not economically equal. Some people groups when taken as a whole, are superior to other people groups.

      1. Yes, of course. And, you’re acquainted with Mr. Potter and I am not. However, Mr. Potter has used that equality claim in the second sense not the first, as the introductory clause to his sentence illustrates.

      2. I seriously doubt that Mr. Potter has even thought through these matters. He was reaching for a common trope in order to defuse the allegation that he was a white supremacist. A charge that had nothing to do with the event since 99% of all the vendors and customers and perverted delinquents were white. I seriously doubt that Mr. Potter, like most white Americans, is racially self-conscious. Still, there are some normies who remain decent god-fearing people, even if they are not yet epistemologically self conscious.

Thank you for being here Maple.

  2. I am a citizen of Charlotte; MI and I don’t go to that festival. I went two times and after the second time I was convicted to not go at all. So, I am trying to untangle all the false allegations and lies and get to the bottom of the truth. With all due respect was there also a group from out of state there or was it just you folks and Mr. Potter and his wife perhaps? Thank you for your consideration.

    1. Mr. Potter would know the answer to that question, Aramity. I got there late and didn’t get to meet everybody. You should give him a phone call. He’s very accessible.

      Thanks for asking.

      1. Yes, you are right absolutely. I been watching city hall meetings and plan on keeping up on them. Thank you! Shalom! and may the God of Israel continue to bless you and keep you shine his face upon you and give you Shalom!
