1.) I’ll make the obvious but necessary observation that this is an example of the State thinking that it is the State’s role to shape our children. Parents are merely instruments of the State.
2.) Look folks, this culture has been cooked for decades. Anybody who has managed to get out of the statist Matrix and on to the good ship Nebuchadnezzar (Matrix reference) and so out of the State conditioned culture are already the exception. It simply is the case already that the State is shaping most Children. One way we know that is that the shaping process means adults remain intellectually children. Only a handful of people would have ever caught Michelle’s words as irregular.
Anybody who has managed to get out of the statist Matrix and on to the good ship Nebuchadnezzar (Matrix reference) and so out of the State conditioned culture are already the exception.
How does one become the exception?
1.) Prayer
Lord Christ, you are the embodiment of truth. I am your servant. Grant me your Spirit so as to think your thoughts after you in every area of life so as to take every thought captive to make it obedient to you. You have promised Wisdom to all who ask without doubting. Grant me your Wisdom. Give me discernment. Grant me your favor not to embarrass you in all that I champion in your name. Grant me thy Holy Spirit so as I read Scripture I see your truth and meaning.
2.) Consider your sources of information. If your sources of information are tainted it is hard to see how you won’t be state conditioned.
3.) I’m convinced that only a presuppositional approach can get you out of the Matrix. As such reading chaps like Van Til, Clark, Bahnsen (Theology and Philosophy), C. Gregg Singer (History, Philosophy), Schaeffer (Arts), Rushdoony (Worldview, Culture, Law), Gentry (Eschatology), Os Guinness (Cultural Analysis), Gary North (Social Order), Glenn Martin (Worldview, History) etc. is a must. (This is NOT an exhaustive list. Just a few Presuppositionalists who work in different fields who come immediately to mind.
4.) Once a Biblical worldview is increasingly in place there is a need to read the revisionist historians.
5.) A willingness to see that just as the Jewish leadership conspired to hide the truth of the resurrection so we must be alert to the conspiratorial in our assessment of reality.
6.) Understand we are never finished products. Beg daily, in prayer, for your mind to be sanctified.
