You Don’t Say, Sherlock

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says the U.S. under President Obama is headed toward socialism.

I’ve always contended that Palin isn’t particularly bright. This is like looking at a chicken in the oven and saying, “the chicken in the oven is headed towards the slaughterhouse.”

  1. This seems a little bit unfair. Were I to post my assessment on my blog, while I would probably elaborate a bit more, what she said would also be my general assessment. And it needs to be said because most people don’t realize that we are headed straight toward socialism. It’s sad but there it is.

I certainly have my problems with Palin, but this seems an unnecessary and unwarranted criticism.

  2. Palin is stating the painfully obvious … indeed we are not heading towards socialism, we already are socialist.

Further, Palin was a candidate running on a socialism light ticket with John McCain.

When are we going to tire of candidates soft pedaling the truth? If Palin had wanted to be bold she should have said that “Obama is heading towards tyrannical dictatorship.”

  3. In Pravda recently, of all places, there was a column discussing America’s decent into Marxism. It came to mind reading this post because the author speaks about Americans naively speaking about freedom, not even realizing that it is gone. Sad to say Bret, but it isn’t painfully obvious to a large portion of our population. To borrow a turn of phrase from Jeremiah, they say freedom, freedom, when there is no freedom.

  4. There is a difference between something being painfully obvious in an objective sense and painfully obvious in a subjective sense. I quite agree that most Americans don’t see it but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t remain painfully obvious.

I read that pravada piece. It was quite incredible.
