Roger Scruton & McAtee On Oikophobia and The Death of The West

“This disposition, in any conflict, to side with ‘them’ against ‘us,’ and the felt need to denigrate the customs, culture, and institutions that are identifiably ‘ours,’ being the opposite of xenophobia I propose to call oikophobia, by which I mean the repudiation of inheritance and home.”

Roger Scruton

British Conservative

The West is racked from head to toe with oikophobia. Whites may well die as a people because they have lost the ability to love their own and in losing that ability, at the same time, they have lost the ability to desire to protect their own. The only cure for this is a Biblical Kinism but because we are so far down the oikophobia wormhole Kinism is abominated by both the cultural and church gatekeepers in the West.

You want to know why the West has surrendered to mass illegal and legal migration from third world countries? The answer is oikophobia. You want to know the explanation for diving birth rates in the West? The answer is oikophobia. You want to know the reason for the increase in our divorce rates? The answer is oikophobia. You want to know why interracial marriage is increasingly acceptable when as recent as 70 years ago 31 states had laws on their books making illegal miscegenation? The answer is oikophobia. You want to know the reason for Griswold vs. Connecticut and Roe vs. Wade? The answer is oikophobia. You want to know the reason for White folks being resolved to not commit the sin of noticing? The answer is oikophobia. You want to know the reason why putatively conservative Christian denominations keep asserting egalitarian like statements? The answer is oikophobia.  It all boils down to the fact that the West and the Church in the West has embraced a intense desire to repudiate inheritance and home… they have embraced Oikophobia.

Unless Biblical Kinism is embraced once again the West will die, because the Christian faith has refused to be the Christian faith.

  1. Much of my kin have mild oikophobia. I started doing genealogy in late 2013 and then regional culture about 2016. It is then that I ran smack dab into relatives who were apathetic to who their ancestors were and were they were from. One went so far as to say they probably would not have liked their ancestors, and another (pure White, but married to a light skinned mixed woman) told me maybe we (all Whites) were all a little mixed if you go back far enough! Nope. They did not support the “summer of floyd” and the monument removals in 2020, but it did not grieve them as it did me. Many of them love ethnic restaurants, and one cousin wants to retire in Puerto Rico. Public schools, the bagel boys in media and Hollywood, and apostate pulpits have literally sucked the racial and cultural life out of my people.

  2. The Western “oikophobia” was largely born in the Age of Enlightenment when subversive infidel thinkers found themselves instinctively siding with alien pagan cultures, against the Christian establishments of their own countries. But they really detested Christianity more than they really loved those faraway heathen cultures that they knew only as abstractions.

To give just one example out of many, abbé Barruel mentioned in his great anti-Jacobin work how Voltaire was exulting at the way East Asian pagan cultures had crushed Christian missionary work in their countries, clearly showing wish to treat Christian clerics in Europe the same way:

“”I rejoice with my brave chevalier (he would write to the Marq. de Villevielle) on the expulsion of the Jesuits; Japan led the way in driving out those knaves of Loyola; China followed the example of Japan, and France and Spain have imitated the Chinese. Would to God that all the monks were swept from the face of the earth, they are no better than those knaves of Loyola. If the Sorbonne was suffered to act, it would be worse than the Jesuits. One is surrounded with monsters: we embrace our worthy chevalier, and exhort him to conceal his march from the enemy.”22″

What examples does the philosophist of Ferney adduce! The cruelties of Taikosama, who, in expelling and crucifying the missionary Jesuits, also murdered thousands and thousands of his subjects, in order to eradicate Christianity. The Chinese, less violent indeed, but with whom every persecution against the missionaries, has always been followed or preceded by a prohibition to preach the Gospel. Can the man build upon such authorities, without forming the same wish?”

  3. Shamefully, many Protestants (or at least “Cultural Protestants,” men who were not personally very devout or interested in theological details) also participated in this kind of game, in order to denounce the RC “bigotry”. Like for example Pierre Bayle, the French Huguenot exile in Holland (who was suspected of being a closet infidel) powerfully spread among his reading audience the stupid stereotype of “tolerant Islam”, comparing Papist bigotry to supposed Muslim tolerance:

    https://archive.org/details/enlightenmentcon0000isra/page/618/mode/2up?view=theater

“Muslims, from the time of Muhammad in the seventh century onwards, held Bayle, in his article ‘Mahomed’ in the Dictionnaire (1697), a claim later echoed by Voltaire in his Traité sur la tolérance (1762), were invariably more tolerant than the Christians.22 Had Christians ruled the Ottoman Near East instead of the Turks, avers Bayle, there would remain today no ‘trace of the Greek Church’ and Islam would have been obliterated whereas, by contrast, ‘ces infidèles’ fully tolerated Christianity.

For not only is the Islamic world more tolerant and less cruel but it has far less blood on its hands. ‘Dans toutes leurs persécutions contre les Chrétiens,’ counters Bayle, the Muslims slaughtered far fewer people in the name of their religion than the Christians massacred during the St Bartholomew’s Day Massacre of 1572 in Paris alone.26”

  4. It is sobering to think that the church, so called, is not merely complicit in her participation of this genocide. She is shoulder to shoulder with the enemies of Christ, and trying to shriek as loudly.
